What is an eco-home sanctuary?

Answer:
Like being Earthquake or Disaster Prepared, Eco Sanctuary (environmental survivability) is a basic need that must be addressed in today’s world.  Miz Greenjeans will coach you as to the best actions you personally can take to protect you and your home from the worst effects of Natural or Eco Disaster.

What is meant by the terms "green" and "sustainable"?

Answer:
Green living is healthy. It is about the purity of our water, air, and the conservation of earth's natural resources. Sustainability simply means using natural resources at a rate that gives nature enough time to replace or renew whatever natural resources we are using, and does not harm or destroy the ecological balance of a particular area.

What are interrelated environmental issues that affect me, and my home?

Answer:
Global Warming is a world wide environmental issue that affects every living thing on earth. Your personal well-being, the health promoted, or the sicknesses caused by your home, are interrelated environmental issues that directly affect you.  Clean water availability is an issue that must also be addressed on the individual level.

What, if anything, can I do that will make a significant difference regarding Global Warming?

Answer:
Global Warming can be counteracted through individual and community actions, as well as by governmental action. Global Warming is linked to carbon dioxide emissions. Miz Greenjeans will give you specific target areas in your home/ life style, to reduce your personal carbon dioxide emissions.

Is solar right for me?

Answer:
Solar is right for everyone.  Miz Greenjeans will evaluate your home and together we will explore solar (PV) electricity, solar water heating and solar space heating.

Question:
How does my garden fit into the Eco Home Audit?

Answer:
Your outdoor plants or even a yard full of volunteers (sometimes called weeds), take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and releases oxygen into the atmosphere. What you add, fertilizers, weed killer, or water can have positive effects or negative effects on the environment, both locally and globally. (Really!) Miz Greenjeans is also your household composting consultant.

Question:
I have heard that I should have native plants in my yard. Why?

Answer:
Many native plants have lovely flowers. Native plants are adapted to local environmental conditions, are drought tolerant, needing water or rain usually only to establish, and provide habitat for birds, bees and butterflies.

Question:
I have allergies. Can a Miz Greenjeans Environmental Audit give me any help in coping with my allergies?

Answer:
Yes! Your house and furnishings may be contributing a lot to your allergy sufferings. Miz Greenjeans can help you identify and remedy problem areas.
